‘Oh you green nine’ hike on the Hochkönig

The season for refreshing herb hikes on the Hochkönig is slowly but surely coming to an end. There is still a wonderfully spicy smell along the alpine paths, which invites you to fascinating, instructive and tasty journeys of discovery. A new XXL tour opens up all the herbal worlds at the summit of emotions. The “Oh you green nine” hike combines stimulating aromas with small and large challenges.

6 stages, 16 herb pastures

This beautiful long-distance hiking trail on the Hochkönig combines the entire herbal magic of the three communities of Maria Alm, Mühlbach and Dienten in one giant tour. Six daily stages with a total of 108.6 km and approx. 39 hours walking time open up a total of 16 herbal pastures. During the hike from alp to alp you will be accompanied by the majestic Hochkönig massif in all its diversity. Wide meadows, cool forests, rugged rocks and quiet observation of nature reveal breathtaking views, accompanied by one or two culinary stops. Of course, such a tour should not be without extensive tastings of local herbal cooking. Maybe even a shot of herbal schnapps sneaks in as a bedtime treat.

• Stage 4 “Herbs at the foot of the Hochkönig” (20.5 km, 7 h walking time, medium)
• Stage 5 “All good herbs come in threes” (19.1 km, 7 h walking time, medium)
• Stage 6 “Herbal hiking with a view” (18.6 km, 6 h walking time, difficult)
